- It's deplorable that present typing programs do not use modern learning principles. I thoroughly support your eText project.
- Stephanie B, Corporate Trainer
- typeSmart is undoubtedly a wonderful program; thought and care have obviously been given to the pedagogy behind learning how to type.
Ever since you sent me the code to unlock the demo version of typeSmart, I have been working away at typeSmart, putting in nearly a half hour a day. I am, in fact, writing this note to you with all ten fingers, instead of my previous three.
I have worked up to a fairly clean 35 wpm. I expect to continue to work with typeSmart until I am at about 60 or 70 wpm, since it seems like a reasonable goal.
Thank you again and best wishes,
- Fr. Gregory, OJN
Schools, Colleges and Universities
With the increasing demands on computers resources in elementary and high schools, teachers are constantly being faced with the dilemma of whether typing or keyboarding skills need to be taught.
On the one hand, teachers are concerned that not teaching students the correct fingering will result in poor habits that will require correction at some stage in the future.
On the other hand, computers resources in most schools are quite limited and thus many teachers believe that teaching traditional typing is a low educational priority because of the relatively large amount of time needed.
Halve the time required to teach students to type.
typeSmart's modern learning methods and innovative approach addresses this dilemma, greatly reducing the time needed to learn keyboard skills.
- euphonic feedback
- total positive reinforcement
- eliminates the many hours of boring nonsense drills which strain both computer resources and students’ attention spans.
Combine typing practice with other activities.
typeSmart has a feature that allows the student to continue their practice while using other software, such as Microsoft Word.
Teachers and students are also able to cut and paste to customize the content of the typeSmart sessions. Using this facility, teachers can incorporate typeSmart practice into main lessons, such as spelling lists, famous speeches, passages from literature.
Assists learning of language.
The modern learning methods used by typeSmart are especially advantageous to young and ESL students, as all phonemes, words and sentences are voiced, so that students learn the language as they learn to type.
typeSmart provides multi-modal feedback. Students learn to type the words and phrases in chunks, as is recommended when learning spelling and language generally.
Teachers may also wish to note that all the most commonly used and most commonly misspelled words are included in the typeSmart exercises.
Minimize risk of keyboard injury.
typeSmart is designed to minimize risk of keyboard injury (RSI, carpal tunnel injury, etc). Effective keyboard and computer skills are required by today’s education system imperatives and by parents. eText typeSmart is specifically designed to safely and effectively fulfil these requirements.
Children are required to learn keyboard skills at a much earlier age and it is imperative that potentially crippling ailments are avoided from the start. eText typeSmart is designed to reduce the potential risk of injury inherent in the traditional typing teaching method and associated with intensive computer use when the students are older.
Appropriate learning path.
typeSmart assists teachers in developing an appropriate learning path for their students’ age group and abilities.
Our eText Progress Manager software is also available to schools and colleges to assist teachers in monitoring and mentoring the enrolment and progress of individual typeSmart students.
